Remember when these were going for $175 each?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-P-Unit...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

    Here's a "Buy it Now":

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-United...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Of course I know that the next words off your finger tips will be something along the lines of "But it doesn't have a Unique Coin in it like the Truman C&C Set!"

This one was originally $65 from the US Mint:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-Benjam...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

If you think for an instant that the collecting community will not turn its nose up at the Truman coin in a year or so, then all I can say is that you haven't been paying attention.

17,000 produced. A majority of them will be 69's and 70's and they are just god awful ugly. The buying wave is now but once that wave leaves the shore, it'll be gone for good.

While the current sales are greater than the initial $57.95, they are still coming down from what they had been. You need to ask yourself "Why?".

Anyone that wanted some could get them. Who takes longer than 15 minutes to place an order? Keep it as is.

Like you said, the coins you cite to make your point are not low mintage coins that are part of a series with much higher mintages, like the Truman C&C Set. These low mintage special issue coins are the key dates for these series. Although values will always have ups & downs, these types of coins/sets have done very well and have not been forgotten.

Why is the Truman Set coming down a little? It's a no brainer, the market is flooded with flippers flipping. There will never be more on the market than there will be over the next few months. Regardless of how ugly one may believe a coin is, being a key date with a mintage of 17k, for a series that minted multi millions for each issue, it will always be an expensive coin.

I'm betting this Truman Set, with only 17k minted, the lowest of any of these special sets and sold out in record time, will dry up very soon and the values will skyrocket. Much more likely than any scenario that claims one will be able to buy these at or below issue price, unless of course this happens.

PEOPLE PLEASE, ASK YOURSELVES, WHY IS IT THE ANTI-MODERN TROLLS ALWAYS COMPARE APPLES & ORANGES WHEN ATTACKING A MODERN ISSUE?

AND, ANTI-MODERN TROLLS, CREDIBILITY OFTEN MATTERS. TRY TO CITE COMPARISONS THAT ARE AT LEAST HALF WAY RELEVANT.

I honestly don't see these being that valuable in the future. Yes, it is low mintage, but so will all the ones they are about release in the future. And presidential dollars are really not that popular. That said, I will be keeping a few for myself in case I am wrong, lol.

We'll have to see but my money is on the prices coming down once interest in getting "the next best thing", actually wanes.

For that matter, once the Presidential Dollar Series ends, it'll be a tough go even getting $25 for one of these.

I am NOT and Anti-Modern Troll. I collect almost exclusively Modern Coins.

However, my foray has been very costly. $3500 (Price Guide at the time) for an MS65 Type 2 IKE which has a "price guide" value today of $2150. I "might" get $1850 for it.

Classic coins are no different. A 1955/55 CAC Lincoln in PCGS AU55 Plastic cost me $2250 (Price Guide Value). Today, Price Guide - $1875.

Modern Coins suffer from panic buying based upon "hype" such as "Sold Out", "Low Mintage", "Unique Design", etc. That "Hype" has NEVER sustained prices with a few exceptions.

Folks just need to be patient. The prices will come down simply "because" its a Modern Coin and the Modern Coin Market is a very fickled market.

That's the coin market (up & down, etc) As for these low mintage sets, like the Truman or Mod, they have done very well over the last 20 years. If you bought them, you are way up. As for the market after the initial hype, we'll have to wait and see. Many of these sets have key dates for modern series that are already dead, can't get much worse, up is the only direction to go.

That's right and the MoD dimes with a mintage of 75,000 will sell for $20 each, the same price as the 1996-w dime with a mintage of 1,458,000.

I would guess that the packaging issue is the reason that they won't increase mintages. The packaging for all four of the sets has probably been ordered and made already, when they made the determination on the mintages, months ago. It's probably not possible to have more packaging made on short notice.
I think the mintages stay as they are but the order limit will be changed to 1 per.
I predict the mints website will be a little busier and slower for the next three issues.

Yep, I was thinking the packaging would be the problem too. But, that hasn't stop the mint in the past. So, if they do increase the mintage to maximize their profit, they'll go to backorder for three months after they sell 17k sets.

I know the site was assailed pretty heavily (in a short period of time to have pretty much of the whole mintage sell out in 10-15 minutes) and yet, the site held up pretty well. I checked out at 12:01, signed out, and then signed back in again to have another look around on that day. I had no problems getting back in. The mint site really held up rather well. I don't think we'll have any problems with the next batch..........unless North Korea gets in on things.

You know, that's what I heard - North Korea got most of the Truman Sets and they're going to melt them.

as I have told the us mint time and time again if it wasn't for us collectors there would be no sales I think everything they sell other than regular coin issues should be collector orientated not dealers
give the collector time to buy at a decent time of day as most of us work and can not sit by the computer ready to buy and resell at a higher price as dealers can
