I purchased a Marcus Antony Legio III denarius in great condition (galley with all oars), a lifetime Alexander III Tet, and an Augustus denarius in great condition. The guy offered to slab them no cost, as he was going to anyway. I told him my druthers were unslabbed. He even gave me $50 credit for an extra reference book (Sear Roman coins republican through the 12 Caesars- i mistakenly had purchased it TWICE). I went back and forth, and went awead and slabbed them knowing that I could free them at a later date... Want to photo them to database and to post here... Just looking for best ways to photo without glare and to really pull out the images.

I will be looking for your photos. I am a minor collector of sorts of MA Legionary Denarii. I have around 8-10 denarii, but there are at least 25 some of which are next to impossible to find.

Lots more to go. I just finished all my Hadrian coins. Some are better. Some will require more attention, but later when time allows:

Here's a coin I could never get a good image of. I tried again today, and I think I'm finally pleased. Ordinarily, I don't like a completely back-lit bust, but it works on this coin because of the silvering on half of Aurelian's face. Lighting it from the front gives me a bunch of weird glare and dead spots.

This looks like an ordinary, common ant of Aurelian, but it isn't. Concordia holding two standards is frequent on the issues of Severina, but quite scarce for Aurelian.

You are a much better photographer than I am, but some of these silver coins are next to impossible to get a good shot. I've tried everything I can think of with mixed results.

Well, thank you very much. The compliments I've received have made this effort of re-imaging a lot easier. Still, I have trouble everytime I come across a shiny denarius.

JW, you gonna update the new images onto your forvm gallery?

I would, but that means I have to update the entire listing I think and thus losing the number of views and any comments. That is, unless you know how to do it without losing anything.

Nope, only way to is to shrink the image down to the thumbnail size that is displayed followed by making sure the file names are the same and emailing Joe to upload them. He get grumpy when he has to do that. I had him do it for my Lucilla Tray.

I like the "old" version way better then the "new" in your latest example (is that wrong?)

    ... I still like you
