Again, those are amazing coins, AJ ... ... oh, and it's not a competition, but I still kinda like my example the best (is it merely Proud Papa syndrome?) => Please keep 'em coming (your coins ROCK)
Congratulations on actually owning the smallest electrum coin! Everyone always thinks their 96th is, then I have to tell them about the 192nd. A lovely group. I particularly like the Phanes.
Thanks everyone! Thanks! Managing to get a 1/192 (on a bit of a gamble from horrible auction photos) was the catalyst for me wanting the entire set. So far, I've resisted the temptation of the ever-increasing population of Phanes trites, but the 1/48th is a pair for my 1/24th:
I agree - the 1/24th is quite well done considering its size. It has a nearly identical smaller brother in a 1/48th, but I've been outbid to the moon on every example I've tried to purchase. As for the smaller denominations, the pool of types does become rather limited as size decreases. One which is on my "to upgrade" list is the 1/96th, with my eye on a couple varieties. The 1/192 as a denomination isn't known by any other types (as far as I'm aware), so I'm a bit stuck with whatever amorphous blob they were attempting to convey.
You should work on a Phanes set next! The stater will be tough, though. And have you ever considered doing a set of the Lydian kings? I've always thought this would be a rewarding little collection, as most of the coins, especially the silver, are fairly readily available, but difficult to find with good grade and surfaces.
Those are indeed great sets, all of which I find vastly more interesting than the Twelve Caesars. My other planned set is the Croesus staters, with the heavy, light, and "heavy with wart on nose/prototype"... alas, they are in high demand and I was outbid on the last three prototype heavy staters at CNG despite placing "certain-victory" bids. The hunt continues
Man, those are some killer coins. ::tries to think of words to describe AJ's coins.:: ::fails:: Anyhow, what's up with your custom title? Something about your fish? ::resorts to Google translate:: Ah. I see. Quick question for all you nerds (said in the best possible way) out there: how the heck do I turn off French autocorrect? Somehow it's been activated on CT, and it's driving me crazy!
Hey! How was second session? There were some OK ancients in that auction... Nice profile shot BTW. =)

The session was fantastic! Did you attend the first session? We had double the lots from the first session, but just barely beat the first auction... I'll be post about the session later today (hopefully).
I did. =) I was one of the two ancient catalogers. We stayed up until 2:30 at the ANA, PIZZA FOR ALL!!! Yup. We done got beat. Joshua texted moi the results.
You helped with the cataloging on the second week too right? If you are who I think ya' are. Unfortunately I didn't have a computer or anything to help with the cataloging...
