FWIW, every raw MoD set I saw bearing a price tag at the Raleigh show today was marked at $110. I saw one or two dealers trying to swap them around, but I don't know if anyone was buying at retail.

I did find a dealer asking $1025 for a raw Kennedy gold half in OGP. I thought long and hard about it, but declined. If I've waited this long, I can be patient a bit longer and try to land one at or below melt on eBay.

I think $100 is a good deal for a coin of the century.

Oh Yeah ! The mint sold out in 4 hrs at 58000 with the rest to supposedly come out in late Aug. I missed out on ordering by phone. After waiting on hold to order for over an hour I was cut off!! Had to purchase on ebay. Got one 3 coin set, one ngc proof 69 and one ngc proof 70. Total investment-$380.00. I think they were worth it.

The reason they sold out are the flippers and dealers that have people buy max sets and send the unopened box to them, so they can get the "special labels" and 70's while the buyers make a few $. If the mint would go back to the 1 or 2 limit per household I would bet it probably still wouldn't be sold out.

Does anyone think that I paid too much?

It's ok, because as the market distributes these coins, prices will fall if there is a low level of interest as you suggest.
So, if you want some, just wait a few years and then buy them after the prices drop to realistic levels.

If you believe they're over priced. At $100/set, the dimes are about $20 each, which is what the 96-w sells for. I'd say the dimes are way underpriced, so may not want to wait to pick them up.

I could be wrong but there may never be more offered for sale competing with each other than there are right now. Once they settle into collectors hands I guess we'll see what the market bares. I think it'd be foolish to assume that there arent thousands of potential interested buyers haven't even heard about or viewed them yet.

You must be a paid troll, you spew this garbage, regardless of what the facts are. The only way this set is ever worth less than issue price is if an extinction size asteroid hits the earth.
