Who cares what he thinks, he hates Kennedy halfs anyways, again, I have the perfect person for the job !!!! I don't know one error expert, who would ever says that just from seeing images !!!! Hell, let see if pcgs, or ngc, will grade a coin from images, or tell you, your coin is a ddo, or ddr, from images, I don't think so !!!!!
I have also received a lot of bad news from James Wiles over the years...but also a lot of good news. I only collect Kennedy half dollar varieties. I have been sending half dollars to James Wiles since 2003. The first photo is of all the ones returned to me as “too minor to list”, like yours. The second photo are all the Kennedy doubled dies I have found over the years, which includes 39 new listings. Larry Nienaber
In response to the "too minor to list" I would appreciate it if some which are already listed that appear to be "minor", would be "unlisted". How about "delisting" 1964 DDO-005? Or even DDO-019? DDO-019 seems fairly "minor". What about DDO-023? While he's at it, maybe delist the 1965 DDO-001, DDO-002, DDO-003, DDO-004, and DDO-005?
Doh, I didn't mean to open a can of worms, I am very happy I have found one. The funny thought I had was it looked just like on of the ones posted and yet mine was to small. Confused
Welcome aboard the ship of confusion. Here is what I believe to be the case. In 1997, James needed as many doubled die coins as he could find in order to create the Kennedy Half Dollar Book. In so doing, I believe that a lot of DDO's were attributed that, today, would be returned as too minor to list. The bottom line is that there are literally hundreds of different doubled dies and cataloging them all including die marriages can be a MAJOR pain in the Butt! There are that many! A line needs to be drawn on what will be listed and what will not and that line is drawn with the pen of Popularity. Kennedy's just do not have the popularity at this point in time to warrant a whole lot of attention. There is , after all, all those 2009 DDR Lincolns to be cataloged! And lets not forget about the 2014 DDO that was recently found! I really hate to be so negative on the subject but my frustrations with the entire attribution process and the politics that control it that I have no other way of expressing my sentiments. Too put it into perspective, I would MUCH rather have the OP's coin listed than the "doubling" in the coin in this link: http://www.varietyvista.com/2013PMDDDR001 quarter.htm
You are so right, but, hes not the only show in town, thats for sure, from what I could remember, Mr. Wiles only owns the files for 25 yrs, wonder what he paid for this honor !!!!!!
Hey all, So I sent this into ANACS, as the others thought it to small or were to back logged to deal with this. I am supposed to get it back today or tomorrow. I would like to make it a new thread, but I thought I would ask you guys.
The best photos of course are above but here it is: TDO Die 14 yessssss I had them conserve it so it looks better So I had thought this was my First DDO, but it was not in two ways: 1. It is a TDO (yes) 2. A 2010 d Sheild cent I found earlier than this is WDDO-001 (which I will post in that old thread if I can find that) If you you guys remember, I also had a Swiss 5 Frank which is also a DDO I will post that in its old thread. THANK YOU GUYS!
I'm pretty sure this is Coneca DDO-014 .. Heres what it states: Designation: 14-O-II-C (3) Description: Light triple spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, date, and the L and Y of LIBERTY Markers: Master Die / Master Die Stage A: Obverse is EDS Reverse is RDV-002 (Flared G) – EDS Stage B: MDS (unconfirmed) Stage C: LDS (unconfirmed)
I could not find it ty!!!!!!!!!!! Does it state how many of these there are known? Since this is for my Mom, I hope someone might be able give an estimated value.
Thats not mentioned but, I think I only sent it in for the obverse Doh! I will break out the scope right now lol.
