alexandrian tets are always on my list, if not on the top. any reverse type i don't have yet or ruler i don't have will unusually get a low ball bid out of me on ebay, even if it's not something i'm really wanting at the moment. anyway, i put alow bid on this coin, not having a reverse with eirene on it. got it delivered to my house today for about 10 and a half bucks. Diocletian Alexandria potin tetradrachm OBV: A K Γ OΥAΛ ΔIOKΛHTIANOC CEB, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right REV: Eirene standing left, holding olive branch and scepter, L - B (year 2, Aug 285 - Aug 286 A.D.) across fields Milne 4774 20mm 8.2g
Looks like nice thick patina, and the price tag can't be beat. Here is one with Elpis: DIOCLETIAN Tetradrachm OBVERSE: A K Γ OYAΛ ΔIOKΛHTIANOC CEB, laureate draped bust right REVERSE: LA, Elpis standing left, holding flower, a long sash (?) hanging from her arm, & clutching hem of robe. Struck at Alexandria, Egypt, 284/285 AD 6.6g, 20mm Milne 4750
that's a nice tet, when i bid on my coin...i thought my reverse was elpis as well. here's my other diocletian with alexandria on the reverse.
And here is my only other Diocletian Tet with Athena: DIOCLETIAN Potin Tetradrachm OBVERSE: AV G OVA DIOKLHTIANOC CEB, laureate, cuirassed bust right REVERSE: Athena standing left, holding Nike in right hand, shield in left hand, year LD in left field Struck at Alexandria, Egypt, 286-287 AD 8.3g, 19mm Milne 4750

Cool coins! This was actually my 3rd Ancient I ever bought. Other than it being Vespasian and Titus, I really don't know too much about it. Can anyone please fully attribute it? Sorry for the bad pics ( it's been a few years) Thanks.
young man, are you old enough to buy beer? EGYPT, Alexandria. Vespasian, with Titus as Caesar. AD 69-79. BI Tetradrachm (22mm, 12,83 g, 12h). Dated RY 8 (AD 75/6). Laureate head of Vespasian right; L H (date) below chin / Laureate head of Titus right. Dattari (Savio) 347-9; RPC 2447. actually, i'm not sure that's right, but i saw this very similar coin at vcoins, attribution cut and paste. http://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/mar...ndria__rare_and_beautiful/439357/Default.aspx
It helps that I have a beard! Thanks Chris! I shall offer sacrifices to the Gods and then ship some delectable grade A Beer to you. Wow! The seller lists it as "Rare" Interesting
