A few months ago I posted a beautifully toned PCGS Merc I saw on Great Collections thinking it was AT, and it ended up selling for about $1700. I had no idea it would go that high. Cruising GC again, I come across another nice one. The auction closes next Sunday. Anyone want to try to take a stab at where they think the bidding will end? Will it be as high as the other one? FYI, this is not my coin and am not trying to hype it for a friend. http://www.greatcollections.com/Coin/283894/1945-D-Mercury-Dime-PCGS-MS-67-FB-Toned
Not sure what it'll sell for depends on the bidders, but being a 67FB I'm guessing north of $600 I like the 45-d 67FB much more the the target toned 45-s 66FB.
It shouldn't go past $500, but I'll go for the big bucks just for kicks and say it sells for a cool $1000.
The coins are not comparable. The pattern on the $1700 Mercury is more sought after as are the colors. The instant coin is nice, but I don't think it will go anywhere near that number unless the market truly has become crazy and lost all sense of logic.
I don't think it will get nearly as high also, but this one is a better grade with still some very nice toning. Just wanted to get others opinions. I was thinking in the mid $300's.
I like the 67 coin better , I love the colors on the 66 but not how they're layered over and over each other . I'll say $455 for the 67 '45-D .
