Thanks, Bing...I only collect Byzantine as something comes up that appears at low retail--especially GOLD types....And it seems we are about to switch 'roles'---as I'm about to go on the wagon again for two weeks or so after my last auction ends before July...and you're about to enter into it again ..

I have to start off slow. It's going to be like walking after an extended bed rest.

 

I bought a coin from the same seller on Vcoins in January and didn't receive my coin either. but i did get a refund

I won two other 'republican' denarii this afternoon, which will probably be about all my additions for this week or month. One is a 'Roma', but with a cool reverse and the other a type and reverse I was missing...

Here are my new republican denariis (about to start attributing them today hoppfully) I was bidding on the one on the left and noticed the the seller had the other 3 in a group of late Roman coins also for sale. God know why he put them in a late Roman lot? But I got them all for a crazy low price ☺ They are worn but it's the top left one that caught my eye. If I'm correct the reverse is the story of the start of Rome the men stole women to start their own empire. ...or something along those lines anyhow.

BTW, it's called the Rape of the Sabine Women where the word "rape" does not mean rape in the modern sense.

 

We never know what to do in a case like this. We do not want to lessen the fun by providing the ID for the coins. The Sabine coin has all the details needed for full ID. The bottom coin is a unique and popular type which several of us have and will probably post if you start a separate thread. The one to the right is most worn and hardest to ID but a common type that someone here has. I do not have it but would like one. Maybe the one I think I recall seeing here will surface if you start that thread. As a hint, you can read most of a word on the obverse and there are only a couple Republicans that use it there.

 

I'm going to hand you the answer to the bottom coin on a golden platter, simply because I wrote a page on the type on my website, and I like it when people read my website...
