If it is in a flip taped to a piece of cardboard, it potentially only has one thin layer of bubble wrap between it and damage. I have had packages damaged enough to need an extra layer of protection. Plus, it is supposed to be a certain thickness, which the extra bubble wrap achieves.

That was the problem she had with me today , she said the package is suppost to be 3/4 inch thick and 3 or 4 other things to be considered a parcel ..
What I was sending wasn't 1/2 inch thick , I'm not using the bubble mailers( can't find them under a buck each) I'm using just the regular 6x9( I get like 8 for a buck) and wrapping the item with bubble wrap!

You do know that you can print labels through PayPal, right? This is the same regardless of whether the person pays through PayPal or not. And when you bring it to the Post Office, the label will give the weight, but you can omit the amount of postage on it. This way, you can just say "scan this" and "please provide me with a receipt." My Post Office gave me problems and was overcharging me on bubble mailers, and I have never had a problem since I started printing the labels through PayPal. They just go with the flow.

The only problem I have encountered with paying for postage online with USPS.com is that you can not print first class postage.

I buy my envelopes in bulk on ebay. I think it was like 5 cents each or something.

You can for thick envelopes if you use PayPal instead of going directly through the USPS site.

@jwitten The only option I get is Priority or Express.

@Coinchemistry 2012 That is the option I am currently doing. USPS.com only shows me the Priority Mail and Express Mail options.

Your post and my other post crossed, so I didn't see it when I made the post.

What you guys that are having problems are doing is arguing with someone for doing their job. Just because 3 people choose to not give a crap about USPS regulations doesn't mean that the other teller doesn't. To avoid continuing to look foolish in the future just add a piece of cardboard in the package as being non bendable will satisfy the requirement for a package (only 1 has to be met to bump it into that category).

Next time, walk in brandishing a 30-06. Nothing new there when it comes to the Postal Service......

I don't think you understand the person I'm dealing with ! It isn't just one or two packages are not up to her or usps standards . It's been a problem every single time I've dealt with this lady .. If what your saying it right , then every single package I've ever received from sellers on eBay must be wrong ,postal workers that accepted those packages are wrong , I'm wrong , the other three postal workers are wrong . Buy this one crazy lady is right and the only postal worker in the World that is really doing there job!
I bet you two would get along great !

That would work well if you wanted to spend several years in federal prison.

The few times I've had issues like this, I usually would say something along the line of, "UPS said they'd ship this for $5", then gather my stuff up as if to leave. They would always come back in my favor, trying to ensure I didn't take my business elsewhere.

If you would take a second to look into the matter, as per your post at the top of this page (the post where you actually explained the problem), yes, you're wrong. I attempted to help you solve your problem (and quit arguing against actual regulations, regularly enforced or not), you're welcome. Your ignorance is shining through at the counter and in your reply to me.

That's what I used to do also though I haven't for a couple years but if I remember correctly it was $25-$30 for 300 or 500 size #000.
You could also throw in 3-4 packing peanuts to get your thickness
or use 1st class shipping used to be $2.32 w/delivery confirmation never had a problem.
And I realize you can't print from ebay at this time, but if you plan on selling alot on ebay get yourself set up to be able to print online labels then you can just drop em off in the box and not have to deal with that stuff (pricless IMO).
