Here is the most off-brand slab that you will ever see. Unique, the only one known, and the most honest grading service in existence today! Even Doug may like this one!
The nice part about this slab, if I ever get tired of looking at this 58 Franklin, I can just replace it with another MS68 58 Franklin.
Here is a Blanchard sample. The word "sample" does not appear, but you can tell by the lack of a grade and the low value coin. They had another variety with gold lettering on the back. Although they have not certified coins since 1989, Blanchard is still in business, dealing mostly in gold bullion and classic U.S. gold coins.
David - which shell is that? Does it have a thin, barely raised rim around the clear part? My Blanchard sample (a Jeff) is of the rimless type - but there seems to be a shadow on your photo.
First, a very oldie INL - but this one is different from the two in Conder's book - it's a two piece.
