I just grabbed this 1964-D Washington Quarter today from the junk bin. Looking at the MM it looks like it is tripled. I could not find anything in the Cherrypickers' Guide on it. Do you think it's a triple punched MM and if so possible a new variety?
It looks like its running east, try to match your image to the ones on wexler site . Heres the link http://doubleddie.com/1237766.html
I do think its Coneca RPM-003, but theres no images . I'd say to check for markers, but nothing known for markers on coneca site either ..
Make sure when you take your images, you try to match it to the one your coping . I had to turn your to the left more, here your image now
I find it funny that Coneca and Wexler both have RPM running east, but both have different markers for their RPMs ... With Coneca having no markers for their RPM and nether cross-referencing each other either ..
Looks like isolated MD to me... Reduces the size of the mint mark. Also about CONECA and Wexler listings, they are both an individual reference. I believe if you don't reference a number when submitting for attribution then they likely wont be cross-referenced unless it's a major find that gets a bit of publicity. Markers listed will likely be based on what the attributer finds to be most significant or sufficient enough to identify the die. I don't think any attributer lists every die marker for every die-state.Of course there is a likely possibility of being different RPM's too.
It does look like MD. But it is only confined to the MM. Not the slightest trace of it anywhere else on the reverse. There is no way it could be machine doubling without it affecting anything else.
Very interesting! I've learned something new today. Thank you. That would explain the very uniform stepping effect. I had just made the assumption that because no other surrounding element was doubled or tripled that it could have only occurred while the MM was added to the die.
jtlee....you aren't the only one who learned sumthin' new today. Thanks to jay4202472000 for providing that link (I've already added it to my faves). Damn, if that isn't the same effect going on with the OP's coin as the Roosie in the provided link. I guess the OP has his answer....or....????? I'd imagine the trail stops at the link.
