I understand that a 1909 "S" Indian is rather valuable in higher grades. Can anyone inform me as to my find of this 1909 "P" Indian Cent from minutes ago?

Cll me crazy, but upon closer inspection it appears that there remains a rather badly worn letter "s" centered beneath the wreath on the reverse of this coin. Does anyone else see it? Thank You.

I don't see it, I think you may be seeing what you desire to see.

I think you may be correct. However, under a 25x loop it really appears to be centered directly beneath the wreath. It could be a forgery gone bad, also. Thanks for responding. Error66

I've just completed 47 rolls of cents and not one wheatie in the bunch. I was, however, lucky with my first Indian so I guess I shouldn't complain.

I see what appears to be an "S", but I don't believe it's a faint mint mark.

we generally tend to see what we want to see.

If there was an S there, then it would wear the same as the rest of the coin

  11. How could a "badly worn" S exist on a coin that's not badly worn?

Well, the coin has not got the word "LIBERTY" on the headband either sir. It has worn away. But after showing the cent to a friend yesterday evening he confirmed your call on the "s" not being there. I often do see that which I most desire. Thanks for replying.

My language skills are a bit rusty, but I think that I understand this wise advise. Thank You. Error66
