Maybe it was some kind of Ikopino? Here is a "2½ europinos" medal with Eisenhower portrait. Two links, same type: http://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotvi...ot=26020&Val=8040cb4b422581e787de4198ff5aa254 http://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/...opinos-x-11-1952-1959-cuid-135407-duid-338363 Seems that the "europino" was a series of fantasy issues. Here is one minted in Hamburg for some American company: http://www.vddm.de/index_el68.htm Another Eisenhower medal: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Medaillie-Er...r-USA-Dwight-D-Eisenhower-in-PP-/251984808480 Minted in 1989, that was probably part of a series (40 Years Federal Republic of Germany). The medal says that Eisenhower's visit to DE was in 1959 ... Christian
That Europino may have been what it was, it was a long time ago and old men forget, or mis-remember. I just seem to remember that it was denominated as an ECU or 'European Currency Unit', though certainly a fantasy piece. There was an ECU at the time but as a money market thing, not as any form of currency
I have about 30 Ike's all P & D's and all graded no less than MS 65. I have some S mints graded higher. All NGC or PCGS.
@ldhair Is this yours. I've found one of these for sale on ebay but its copper. Your pics for some reason led me to believe the one pictured is silver...Couldn't say no tho! http://www.ebay.com/itm/301641988681 - Least expensive one I could find with the least amount of spotting. Can't wait till it gets here. Thanks for sharing this.
