eBay turning up the pressure to sell...

Got a new offer today: between now and June 14, the first 100 items I sell have FVF capped at $20 (corresponding to a $200 price), instead of the usual $750 (corresponding to a $7500 price).

This would be really attractive for selling gold or large lots -- I don't have that many high-numismatic-value coins -- except for a few points:

    1) I think gold and silver have more upside than downside at the moment; I'd be selling closer to a low than to a high. Maybe.

    2) I'm still creeped out by eBay's heavy bias toward buyers, and really nervous at the possibility of a single scammed auction that would cost me hundreds or thousands of bucks.

But it is a tempting offer -- not as tempting as the "no FVF" offer, but I haven't seen one of those in years. What to do, what to do...

Crap, I wish they would give me that offer. I guess they know I already sell expensive stuff, so no need to entice me.

10 days ago they offered me 10 listing for only $1 FVF . on most items I listed, b/c I have never been a seller only as a buyer.

    Things are different in England.

Because I have not sold for a few years they offered to send two burly men round to my house to beat me up. Compared with selling on ebay now, this sounded attractive.

Oh, for... well, I guess it makes sense that someone who already has a store is probably selling enough, and eBay wouldn't feel the need to do this kind of promotion. I've sold three sub-$100 lots in the last two years, I think, so you can imagine the profile I present -- "we've almost got him back; maybe this will entice him to sell something that will actually make us some money!"

...and, as if to tempt me even more, the sealed box of five MOD sets is arriving today. It's awfully tempting to just flip it on eBay for $150-200 profit, and then buy individual coins as MS/PF68 discount rejects if I can't live without them.

The infamous MoD set..... falls under the "Beanie Baby" theory...

Extremely time sensitive. Cash that check now, don't wait for prices to fall.

I agree that they'll peak and then fall. I just don't know how far out the peak is -- doesn't look like it's passed yet -- how high it'll be, or how far they'll fall behind it. Would be a bit of a shame if next month they're trading at $750.

$750...Ha. Dont get the holders of this coin set in a frenzy :greedy:

IMO, the price of a set isn't worth the time invested for me.

Similiar to 2011 ASE 25th Anny, like I mentioned before, but was a completely different thing.

According to the Mint's website, the MoD uncirculated dollar is on back order, presently not available:

I bought 2 boxes of 5, and sold both for around $530. After fees, shipping, etc, I cleared about $150 per box. Not huge, but I will take it! I bought a few more sets once they removed the limit. I will keep a few of those, and sell the rest.

Well, I put 'em up -- I'll post a link in the Auctions forum a bit later. 5-day BIN, and if nobody bites in that time, I'll open them up and see whether any need to go back to the Mint (7-day return window).

LOL -- I asked $529, and they lasted for 30 minutes and 3 page views (one mine). If you're thinking of selling some yourself, you might be able to set your sights a bit higher. :)

My offer was for a $10 max FVF. I did put up a gold coin worth between $700 and $800. I'm nervous that I somehow messed up or eBay is just screwing with me because there is no way I would have used eBay to sell this with the normal 10% fee ($70+).
