But does combined shipping, but at a profit for himself and that is scamming. He plainly says "I DO NOT COMBINED SHIPPING" but he did anyways and over charged you for shipping. His having to drive to the post office isn't your problem or him having to stand in line. Just part of doing business. These are the same kind of old people that run antique shops and think just because a pencil is 40 years old doesn't make it worth $10. For some reason they think the world owes them something? I really don't even see how they keep the stores up. When I go in these stores there are usually no customers in them and everything is over. Is someone giving them free rent?
LOL I made the mistake of bidding without asking about combined shipping. Won some stamps dirt cheap. But ended up paying $10 in shipping (seriously? For less than 1oz?) So if it gets here in record time then I'll accept paying that much. But if it takes a while, I'll probably ding him.
I have had this happen. I won three actions each containing 2 Barber quarters. I invoiced the seller to see if he combines shipping. He sent back the total with $30 tact on in additional fees! He fixed it and did not give me combined shipping and sent them all together. Should he have gotten a negative? At least they came in coin capsules so I didn't.
Well, this is exactly what I did. Left positive for one and neutral for one. Left five stars for speed of shipping and description of coins. (good pics) And one star for communication and shipping charges. He sent all in one package for less than $4.00. He has yet to communicate and has made no remarks to the neutral feedback. For those that may have forgotten or that just do not bother to read... My biggest beef was that he ignored my 5 message attempts.. I know because the 2nd day ebay answered my question. It was not the fact that he charged 8 separate shipping charges and shipped in one package.
I don't know, Copper... usually when one walks into something such as this knowing things might not go their way, it is hard for me to agree with any type of punishment being given. However and with that said, this fella should have seen the writing on thewall, so it's hard to feel bad for him. Perhaps next time he will handle a similar situation with a touch more class... meaning any would be a vast improvement.
He got neutral feedback from you and I don't think he could change it so why would he comment on it ?
This is a valuable lesson for sellers. There are plenty who use shipping rates to bolster their bottom line. Not only is this a dumb strategy, it also causes people to block the seller or ignore their listings. So the result is as was reported here... listings sold well below what they should have, and even with the shipping price thing the seller still made less than they likely would have by being customer-friendly. Plenty of folks prefer not to deal with edit even if the prices are good.
You can "comment", as in "follow up", on a feedback message by leaving a response that appears in the feedback listing. Sellers frequently follow up on negative or neutral feedback giving their perspective on the issue. You can also follow up on that follow-up message, but the conversation stops there; you can't have longer chains of follow-ups. Just the initial feedback, a response to that feedback, and a response to the response. (The person leaving feedback gets the last word.)
The seller didn't respond to any of his messages. Do you really think the seller was going to respond to the feedback? In my opinion, the seller is not putting any importance to it and it's to his benefit not to explain anything. You write it off as a crazy buyer.
Yea they do. This seller don't care plain and simple why keep on beating your brains out not worth it
Question. Is there some eBay policy that states each item must be shipped individually if you charge separate s&h? If so ok but it seems like people are writing their own rules. The guy said pay me x for the coin and y for shipping.the guy clicked ok. The money successfully changed hands and the coins arrived safely. Is there some eBay decree that states if multiple shipping charges are made that the items have to arrive individually?
No, but there is a rule being violated. I actually posted the excerpt from the eBay seller policy earlier in this thread. The rule is against charging excessive fees for shipping. Let's say you charged $2 for shipping and you sold 4 items. The buyer pays 4 shipping charges but you combine them into one package and ship them for $7.50. You're fine. Let's say you charged $2 for shipping and you sold 4 items. The buyer pays 4 shipping charges and you ship all 4 items separately for $1.85 each. You're fine. Let's say you charged $2 for shipping and you sold 4 items. The buyer pays 4 shipping charges but you combine them into one package and ship them for $2 (as might be the case for coins). Now you've violated the excessive shipping fees part of the seller policy.
in an effort to make the item appear artificially inexpensive, to avoid eBay fees, or for anyother purposes. The seller didn't violate this rule. If he charges $2 on an item that is that. My opinion is that eBay is saying something to the effect of "don't charge $2 for an item and $26 for shipping". If the individual charges were not excessive then I fail to see where the violation is. Is there a written policy where eBay says that if you look at aggregate purchase the total postage has to be acceptable?
That's the important bit right there. Means you just can't do it. Period. Sure they listed a few common reasons, but they are irrelevant. It's a blanket prohibition.
