Submission in, your thoughts?...

  1. I recently (yesterday) sent these three coins in to PCGS through a fellow collector who had a big regular submission going in. All three were straight graded before by three different TPG's. Below are pictures as well as my thoughts on the coins. I'll post the previous grades after the results are in.

Just about as perfect as it gets. Some light circualtion marks, but nothing too distracting. I am guessing VF30.

Tough date. A little lighter in color and a bit weak on the obverse. I would call the obverse an old grade of F18 and the reverse is about VF25. I would be happy with VF20, but if they are having a bad day, maybe a F15.

Really clean obverse, an old cut on the reverse. It doesn't bother me in the least. A lot of 95-S's are just plain ugly, and this one is just so clean.

Edit: I think this one will go 30.

I see what you have posted grade wise. Especially when the dates you posted finding uncleaned is a hard thing to do today. Most have been found.

My thoughts? I wish I had those two Barbers!

I'd be a bit surprised if the 92-S went lower than 35. In the photos of graded coins I've seen, I have the impression that even PCGS and NGC go a lot easier on better-date Barber halves than the grading guides would prescribe.

I agree on 20 for the 93-S. I would be more surprised at 15 than I would be at 25, though.

I don't grade Morgans, so your guess is better than mine there...

The Morgan dollar could grade high or lower at times. Depends on their mood some say.

    1892-S Barber Half - VF25

1893-S Barber Half - I agree with you; I think it will come back VF20 as a proper grade. F+ obv/VF rev, net VF.

    1895-S Morgan VF20
