re the "old silver dollar" being an Ike. Shhhhh! Just go on and keep smiling. The next one may be a silver proof Ike or even a Morgan and she will still sell it to you for one $1.
I mean really, what did you loose? trade $1 for $1. Nothing lost. and she is working on your team to find you silver dollars. I wish I had 20 tellers at 20 banks just like her. As it is, I have 2 at 2 banks and really appreciate them.

I finally found a 1943-P silver war nickel in a BWR today. It was my first silver find of the year. I've also found a buffalo and a v-nickel this year, both common dates, in bank rolls. You can still find some keepers if you are willing to spend the time and effort to do so. I only coin roll hunt on a very small scale, a few rolls at a time, and have only occasional success but it's fun.

I found TWO silver quarters in cwr today, 64 and 64-D. Any silver quarter is a good find, two in one day is great. I also found one silver dime and one silver war nickel.

Haven't searched for a month. Two boxes halves: 3-90%(2-Bens,62 and 63, 1-64 Kennedy), 39-40%, 2-1987(P and D), 1-2004-S proof, 9- NIFC. Good results, I think I'll consider taking another month off!

The 92-D is interesting. I have a 92 (P) sitting next to me right now and the space between the A & the M could be described as gaping - yours isn't

but being less gaping and not actually being close enough to touch the "A"...
it's like i just missed the mark lol.

Two boxes halves: 21-40%, 8-2004S proofs, 3- NIFC. It's been a good week. Keep searching! (BTW, I have several 2004-S proofs if anyone needs one).

Went back to the bank where I'd scored 3 Franklins and they had 3 more rolls:

Roll 1: 8 clad proofs (1973, 1979, 1983, 1985, 1989, 1990, 1993, 1999), a 2012-P (NIFC), and what appears to be a plated 1971 with a silver colored rim. Weighs a little more than a standard clad half, but sounds like a clad when dropped.

    Roll 2: 2 more 1963 Franklins, 1967 Kennedy, 2 more clad proofs - 1979, 2008

Roll 3: skunk. 1 coin marked "JW" on reverse.

That about quadrupled my proof Kennedy collection. I know they're not worth a ton, but still neat to find something of such a low mintage.

Last week, I found a 1952-D Franklin from a teller's tray. A few days later, I searched through a box of halves and found a 1964-D and a 1968-D Kennedy. The real treat in the box was an 1854 copper French 10 Centimes coin from the reign of Napoleon III. This is the oldest coin and oldest foreign coin I've ever found.

There's no living to be made at it, but it's hard to find a better deal than "spend $100 and get at least $100 worth of coins, sometimes significantly more".

If you look at it from an hourly-wage perspective, it's a terrible job. If you look at it as a form of entertainment... well, how many forms of entertainment do you enjoy that pay you to participate?
