jeez this time I was blessed this week in my pocket change I found 2 double dies , 1978 25 cent Washington quarter double reverse an a 1998 double obverse same type.. And a 1928 lwc I notice its getting harder to find Wheaties in boxes
Do you have any images of the 98 DDO, I think I know what your talking about . I have two 94 with I think the same DDO ..
I see a die worn to a crisp, just thought I post it, thats all .. Not much different then coin in thread, either or, DDO or DDR ....
Die deterioration for sure. The 'doubling' is on both sides of the letters. MD would be on only one side.
On the 1998 it is considered doubling f Dublin is present in the notches in the date and the notches in the letter P. on the obverse of the coin, noting that if you can see the split lines and the date 1998 / 1998 then it's considered a double die according to the cherry pickers got
What's in that tea you're drinking? Lol. That's strike-doubling. Look at the top images in the closeups Rick's showing, they're all shaved off.
Why else? What answer? You didn't ask a question about the coin you posted, but instead clearly implied it to be something it is not ("I have two 1994 I think with the same DDO" immediately followed with "here's what I'm talking about...."). My question to you, an actual question, was asked out of simple curiosity, Rick, and is one not at all unreasonable. If you, in fact, knew your coin not to be of the stated variety, there was no reason to have claimed otherwise.
I'm still waiting to see that DDO, that was talked about in this thread, aren't you . If the DDO would have been posted, then I could of gave the right anwser, thats why I posted the one I did, which I still believe is the same as the one I posted, and if not, then prove me wrong .
Okay.. I see; thank you. As for your posted coin, and with all due respect, it is not, at least from what is shown, a doubled die, so I'm not sure why you would think the OP's yet to be shared 1998 the same non-variety "variety". The coin itself, your coin and again as shown, "proves" what it really is, or in this case is not. With that said though, from what we've seen thus far, it is possible, even likely, that they will display the same general type of incorrectly attributed doubling, so perhaps, in an odd sort of way, you will be correct after all.
Not only am I correct, I can take images of the reverse of my coin, and they will be the same as the OP reverse images .. Here you go ..
