I think it's time for a complete change. If new collectors like moderns so much, why not spongebob squarepants?

I like that, although, Mickey Mouse may be more appropriate.

Au contraire, politicians honestly assess continuously. They merely decline to share that assessment with most people and feed them the crap they want to hear usually.

But surely if we are talking about the "coin of the century" or any meaningful pricing data/conclusions, then it must at least show sustainable gains for a period after it hits the market. I would be curious how these are doing in 6 months, 9 months, 1 year, 1.5 years, 2 years, and 5 years down the road. Maybe I will remember to find these threads and comment then.

You're almost there my friend. The prices on these have sadly tanked. If there was ever something that drew a bunch of people to that series, prices would explode. Some of the mintages are below 10,000 pieces and yet the coins are affordable. They look like bargains compared to many of the newest Mint productions. Maybe it will prove to be the ultimate sleeper after having been in a coma for the last 15+ years. I actually like many of them, but am very reluctant to spend large sums of money on a complete set. Good luck!

The Classic Commems have gone down. Last year My LCS was selling the MD half commem for 265 UNC, today that same coin UNC goes for 165 now. I think it's time to buy.

Any success in finding some good ones. I'VE been picking up a few here and there that I thought were affordable.

Hey Mike, I think I've heard you do that. :troll: One of my favorite things about The Coin Show is listening to the Nottelmannian and Dingerian universes collide without the venom so often found here.

I'm about half way to completing my classic commems set. What's not to like...relatively low mintages and the pinnacle of U.S. coin design.

Do they suffer from a little of the "commerce coins only" bigotry that the modern commems do?

I think that it comes across that Matt and I really do like each other and although we come from two entirely different worlds, we have the utmost of respect for each other and what we like.
