Most if not all of the coin on end rolls are made by the sellers. Out of all the rolls I've gone through from the banks, I've never seen a error coin on the end...and I've been through thousands and thousands of rolls. Found doubled dies, errors and other odds and ends. I've never bought rolls off ebay.

If the error was a 004, you're ahead.

    N. F. String of Harrisburg, PA does coin rolling for the Federal Reserve and other clients as well, such as CoinStar or other similar machine owners, and especially those who own many of them. Hence their rolls may indeed be either solid date newly released coins or run-of-the-mill circulated material. Caveat emptor.

One Harriburg-centered bank chain, Metro Bank, has free no discounted payment coin counting machines in every branch. You do the math. Harrisburg based bank chain, Harrisburg based N.F. String. Hmmm.

I used to be a bank teller... some come as brand new and some are mixed. Yes, you can get complete new or mixed.

Coins come to commercial banks from the Federal Reserve, not the mint. Federally chartered banks get them first and then they second-source usually to the state-chartered banks. At least that's how it works in the 3rd Federal Reserve district, HQ'd in Philly. Most state chartered banks get coin machine re-runs rather than from federal banks.

N.F. String & Loomis do both, new coins and circulated. It's the luck of the draw if you run across a B.U. roll at your bank or not. But the way these errors are showing up, you (probably) will not be out all that much if anything. If you should find multiples of certain errors and sell your dupes on ebay you will be way ahead of the game. Cross your fingers for now and see what happens.

N.F. String does not roll coins. They are a manufacturer of coin handling equipment and supplies.

Are you absolutely certain about that? From their own website:

    Coin Processing
    N. F. String will process your coins and, unlike anyone else in the industry, we have a very expedient ACH system once your coins have been picked up. Whether in bags or bins, your coins will be picked up and accurately processed. Contact us for details.

Thank You,The one roll i purchased does have a tail ended coin with a large die chip on the roof portion of the log cabin of the homestead coin.So like you said it,s the luck of the draw.I will keep everyone posted as to my findings.Jim

Some people have all the luck.Wish i lived near a mint.My friend does, and he is always getting great coins that other Mints send to philadelphias gift shop.He just purchased 2 baseball silver proof dollars for $100.00 that some man had just dropped off while he was shopping this week.

I'm nearer String on a daily basis than the Mint, but ironically enough I'm on a train to Philly right now. The mint, however, is closed for the day. When and if you go there, do visit Ben Franklin's grave, VERY nearby. A truly great man deserves our constant admiration.

No poop. The one I'm on terminates in Philly. If I were going to New York, my transfer would be train #188.:eek::eek: That evening, I spoke with people who were transferring to THAT TRAIN, the one that never got there.
