I didn't remember this post but seeing your avatar sent me on a search. This is a drop-dead gorgeous coin, Pish!!
I agree with TIF and sorry I haven't said so before now PP. I would give Steve's left arm for that coin.
Interesting. The (near) MS of ancient coins can both be beautiful and expensive, then there are (near) mint state coins that are would both surprise and delight but could hardly be considered beautiful or expensive.
I was going to say something nice about PP's Rhodes but I didn't recall seeing it and wasn't sure if it was publicly revealed yet. The coin is only mildly stupendous and like Bing said, " I would give Steve's arm for it as well. Since we have established a value lets make a deal, would you consider a pinkie finger from Bing? We can make that happen.
I'm late to this thread, but I want to welcome you, 'geekpryde', to the fascinating world of ancients----so many varieties within all price ranges and they all have so much history behind each and every one. I'm sorry you lost out on that gorgeous Caria, Rhodes drachm, but you will always get a second chance...And definitely check out the Ancients threads and PM any of us for an opinion, help or anything else on your mind.... PISH, I LOVE THAT COIN!!! And, yes Steve, I still love all of yours too I'll help A-noob---if you need someone to hold Bing down, while you 'operate'
A shame you did not get the coin. On the bright side you have a nothingless than a gajillion ancient coins to chose from. You know what you want you know what both you an your wife like about the type. Get 'er done.
@geekpryde it is not an uncommon coin, keep your eyes open and you will find one. @everyone else - all body parts considered
If you're waiting for me to provide the obvious punch line, I'll pass. I've picked on my coinbro enough this week
Man, what happens when I'm not here?!! ... seriously, have you coin-dudes been into the moonshine already?!! (are you running with scissors??) ... anyway => I try to use all of my parts regularly (alone, or with others) Nice coins everybody (this thread is fairly old, so hopefully geekpryde is over his coin-loss by now?) ... did he ever end-up scoring an ancient coin?
