This is one of the first Notes issued by the Confederate States of America. It’s a T-8 1861 $50.00 Note. Graded by PMG as a 63 EPQ. The serial number is a Ladder Note, with progressive numbering. The number is 12345 and the plate position was B. The back is totally blank so I didn’t add the photo. Strong colors, no pinholes or stains but tightly trimmed along the top. The signatures are not faded. This is a good solid note to have and I’m glad to have it in my collection.

I’ve had that Note for about 11 years according to my computer. It worth more than twice what I paid for it. It was printed in Richmond, VA by Hoyer & Ludwig. The date on the Note is July 25, 1861. It had a $50.00 value at that time but after the war it was worthless. Today that’s not the case. Lol. It’s graded by PMG as a 63 on a scale to 70. It also was given an EPQ, Exceptional Paper Quality. That basically means is was not used but sat in a bank vault or somebody’s home during it’s life. The Confederacy only issued 72 notes in 4 four years. I have about 1/3rd of them and I’m basically down to the tougher issues. They just don’t come up for sale that often and I’m a picky buyer of these. On this note George Washington is the center. Unusual for the Confederacy.
