Of course not. But it's obvious that sending 8 items to one person, with $4 total postage, will cost a lot less than sending 8 items to 8 separate people, with (say) $2 postage for each. It will also take less time than packing, addressing, and entering information for 8 separate parcels.

Charging $24 to ship 8 items in a single package is unreasonable. It does comply with the seller's stated policy, and I guess it complies with eBay's guidelines, and that seems like an argument against leaving non-positive feedback -- but it's not reasonable, and I would absolutely hammer that in the star ratings. The seller simply is not providing a five-star (or even a three-star) experience here.

I would leave neutral feedback stating lack of communication and ridiculous shipping charges.

I agree with you that the cost of shipping would be cheaper going to one person. I just sent out a package that was 13 oz and it cost me $3.47 If it went up one more ounce it would have been priority mail at a cost of $12.60 for medium flat rate. If the shipping complied with the seller's policy, like I said before, you knew the cost. The only way I would give a low star rating is if the item is not as described or if the person shipped too slow.

But if you feel that you need to leave a low star rating because you assumed you were going to get a discount on postage even though the seller didn't reply and ebay sent you an email saying the seller doesn't combine shipping, by all means leave the appropriate feedback that you want.

I would leave a negative or multiple negatives and it is not because the seller wouldn't combine shipping. After all, he didn't state he would combine shipping so I have no issue with that. Rather, if a seller is going to charge eight individual shipping charges then that seller better be sending eight individual packages. Simple. Consistent. Ethical.

Neutral. What he did was wrong. But I only leave negative for truly terrible sellers or people who just never send what you bought.

Did you miss the part about not answering emails? That's kind of a big deal.

If he did not answer the email them don't bid . Ebay sent him the email no discount on shipping so it got answered

No, no, no. The OP sent the seller email after winning the auctions, and the seller blew him off completely.

You can't always make your buyers happy, but pretending not to hear their questions is unprofessional, and deserves negative attention.

You don't ask for a shipping discount after you buy Ebay answered the email for the seller

So if you bought 8 coins and paid for 8 different shipping charges and they all showed up in one package you'd be ok with that? If so I have some coins I'll sell you.

First of all I would have not bought the coins if I was going to charged 8 times shipping if I did not agree with it. That's just common sense. You don't assume someone is going to give you a shipping discount. You don't ask after you buy them, you ask before. If the seller doesn't reply, there are many other people selling coins. I put the fault in the buyer's hand, not the seller.

I don't see the seller as a crook. The buyer could have cancelled the transaction. Very simple.

So when you get charged 8x for shipping and it arrives all in one package it's your fault eh? Even if you asked the seller to combine shipping and they refused yet combined shipping when mailed? I'm just not seeing your logic. So if the seller didn't want to combine shipping why didn't the OP get 8 packages? I'd be fine if he sent 8 packages, but he didn't and made $20 on shipping at the buyers expense. I still call for 8 negatives and returning the coins.

I would leave positive. I don't see your logic for sending the coins back if the buyer liked them. The buyer knew what the shipping cost was going to be ahead of time. So he shouldn't be crying about it now. All of this should have been figured out before he bidded on the coins.
If I was the seller I would block him for crying after the fact
