must the collector include these two coins in a complete set? Some say yes, and some say no b/c they are "fake" coins. IMO they are fake coins.

No, they're fake coins. Fantasy pieces. Nothing wrong with owning and buying one knowing it's a fantasy piece.

    No but the 64-65D make a nice addition. 1964D Bulk.jpg 1965D PD.jpg

I like Carr's fantasy pieces a lot, but they have no place in a "complete set". Not the 64 or 65 Peace dollars, not the 1931 SLQ, not the 1975 dollars, quarters or halves. (Still kind of wish I'd jumped on some of the 1975 pieces, though...)

I don't think a set without the fantasy pieces is "less complete," but I do think at least the 64 makes a cool side addition. If I could ever find anyone willing to part with their 64, I'd probably buy it, but, alas... :/

It is preposterous to think that fantasy tokens are needed to complete a legitimate US coinage set.

No. Neither coin is required for the set to be considered "complete".

Come to think of it, the only set which would require both of these coins to be considered "complete" would be a set of every DCARR Overstruck coin.

Or a larger set of Dan Carr work. He has a lot more out there than just overstruck fantasy coins.

Carr designed a few of the state quarters if I recall.

get a real 1964 and stand out. do what the guys did for the double eagles. you will become famous even if you lose the coin and that is priceless.

If you have a Chinese 93s in your Morgan dollar collection,is it complete? The only deference between the 2 is locality Imo

I don't think I would call a set uncompleted without them but a set with them would seem a bit cooler. Enhanced if you will. On another note would a set be incomplete without all the Vams?

I'm one that really doesn't care for Carrs (fantasy piece) especially the '64 as there were real ones so is it really a fantasy piece or a fake ? So no not needed .
