The email you received was from seller? Did you buy from ebay? Did seller ship anyway with no tracking?

I'm proud to be a USPS letter carrier .. there can be lots of reasons it was scanned undeliverable ... wrong route , misplaced , missed delivery , and as stated before most likely would of been correctly delivery next day or two at most . just because it was scanned undeliverable .. it still is linked to who ever scanned it last .

No redelivery for the next day, rules are you have until the end of that day to stop it from being ship back to the seller, and who knows what would of happen ...

Usps will attempt delivery multiple times before sending something back after the first non delivery attempt not sure why you think they wouldn't. Your carrier probably simply overlooked the package and was out of your neighborhood upon finding it and most likely would have delivered the next day.

USPS Letter Carriers are the most underappreciated employees at the USPS and probably the hardest workers.

Sure there are going to be a few dishonest employees in any business, but for the most part I believe the majority of them are honest. Especially a Government employee, they have too much to loose. "Not talking Political Employees",

For all the years I have been buying from Ebay, US Mint, etc. I may have lost less than 5 things I can think of and of those I was always reimbursed money I spent.

I just wanted to mention about coin sellers on Ebay who send coins in plain envelopes with plain postage stamps, you can always for the most part tell who they are by their shipping charges.

I have been purchasing coins from a particular seller who ships that way. You can't tell there are coins inside by the way he puts them between pieces of cardboard. I have ALWAYS received my coins and they seem to get here quicker than others that are shipped w tracking/ins.

Sure he's taking a chance, maybe he has some private ins. idk, but has 100% feedback & everyone gets their coins. I think the dishonest USPS mail carriers are not paying any attention to regular envelopes with just stamps on them. JMO

Knock on wood I've never had any issues with USPS . Other than mis delivered mail IE envelopes never a package . My issues were with UPS. I would buy from the state of Texas, Pennsylvania , Maryland off e bay. As the items that were purchased were the state sale of drilled safety deposit boxes. When someone would pass and they left no will or no family the state would drill the box sell off the items and then hold the cash in an account for a time period . If no family members lay claim the money would go to the state.
We had just got back from a two week vacation , we had all mail held until that date. I had purchased a shed from Costco that also was on hold until the day in question .
I had forgotten about the item coming from Texas.
Meanwhile we were home, I received the mail from my carrier, received the shed and also mowed the lawn.
The item was shipped by UPS . I had checked tracking, it was due to arrive. My 89 lb. Dalmatian watched me cut the grass laying inside the front storm door.
Anyone who's ever been around a Dalmatian knows they are one of the best breeds as a watch dog. They were breeder to be coach dogs to watch over one be longings in the coach.
So needless to say no one ever got within 30 yards of the house without a warning.
I called UPS asking about my delivery , they told me that the driver had been there and no answer. I assured them we been home all day.
I told them That I needed the contents that day. So they called the driver and told him to re deliver the package.
When he arrived he had an attitude started to give me a
Rash of crap. The package beat to heck. And coins missing after the fact.
Well needless to say I reported him and the missing coins. A supervisor at UPS told me off the record that he has had other issues before.
But from that day on he had an issue delivering packages to the door. He played games like only coming by when he knew a I was working . Making me sign for every package. As before the packages were just left.
Some how the supervisor whom had told me of this drivers past was no longer available to speak to.
So from that day on except the silver eagles we never buy from anyone whom won't ship FedEx or USPS.
I will refuse any package delivered by UPS.
So this guy still run this area route. He knew that the box was from the US Mint. After I had my hands on the silver eagles. I told him if he ever stepped foot on my property again he would not step off it.... not in the vertical position !

Yes and they attempt to figure out the delivery address before actually returning it to sender. Your carrier likely made a simple error and used that entry by mistake or perhaps on purpose to ensure the package wasn't forgotten the next day and got resorted. Not sure how your inferred that they've really masterminded some type of 'new scam to steal your ebay items' from all this; but if you had waited till the next day they probably would have delivered your item then.

Sure we knew what was in some of them. I mean, like, the return label reads 'Berger Bros. Camera' so ya knows there's got to be some sort of electronics or camera equipment inside, right? Sometimes customers would tell you what they were receiving and if you delivered to an industrial or shopping district, you almost always knew what was inside the packages. And I could care less what was inside. What was first and foremost in my mind was emptying a delivery van containing upward of 300 packages and 120 stops and getting my butt home safely to my family.

I will say this.......UPS takes a dim view toward thievery and those that do it are eventually rooted out and dealt with. It doesn't matter how much the value of the item being pilfered is, the result is always the same......you're fired. We had a mechanic who was smuggling oil out in his thermos bottle.....he got the boot. There was a supervisor who was stealing watches. Had a good number of years with the company. He got the boot. Had a group of night loaders stealing rifles. ATF got involved. I think they did some jail time. It's a real temptation for some folks to stick their hand in the cookie jar (where it don't belong) but they all get caught. Eventually. Sorry you guys are having so much trouble with the hired help but I can assure you that most of the people that deliver to your homes (FDX, UPS, USPS) are good hardworking honest people that value their jobs as well as their salaries. Oh, and if they were anything like me, they also loved their customers too.........well, most of them anyway. Some customers were difficult to deal with, but I rolled with it. :)

Unless there is significant information from the OP that we do not know, I would attribute this as more likely due to a simple mistake or error that was quickly fixed instead of an elaborate plot to steal.

Green 18 is a good friend and I know his integrity! Knowing him over the years I have I have no doubt that he did his job well daily, with a smile on his face.
He and I have talked about this situation before.
And to be honest one never knows whom is honest and who is not.
I worked with a woman at one time who I adored! A very sweet and I thought honest. Who was fired for stealing from a company I worked for. She did not need the money, she was very well off.
It's sad as sometimes it's a sickness ,other times it's just greed.
You think you know someone and then the evil comes out!

I don' t work for the USPS but their customer service told me that if I didn't find the package by the end of the day, that it would be shipped back to the seller, I'm not sure what the mail carrier would have to do with that, they would bring the item back, and their finished with that package, again, thats what customer service said . I think its called " Lack Of Communication " ..

I always wonder, what's to keep some ebay seller from sending any empty or trash filled bubble mailer? In other words, can't they say they sent some expensive coin and just send an empty mailer with tracking? I guess the buyer can tell ebay and hopefully get their money back, but a seller could say it was sent. How would ebay get proof either way? It seems like a buyer could also lie and say something was not sent in the mailer. Goes both ways.
