An Imperial portrait denarius of Maximinus I has been on my want list forever. Motivation to hunt one down was provided when @Valentinian shared his excellent webpage on the development of the emperor's portrait styles found on silver issues. You can find great coins in each of the different styles, but I really wanted the third, 'late period' take on his distinctive mug for possibly being the closest to what he actually looked like.

I finally found the combination of right coin and right price in Frank Robinson's recent auction. The reverse is a bit weak, but the coin has the sort of old cabinet toning I love, and the portrait is strong and deeply struck, with the emperor looking like he could easily chin-butt someone to death.
