She has stated that she did not go through the dealer, but rather paid for membership and sent it in independently, and that the price quoted is directly from PCGS with no middleman...

Except an nickel or coppernickel planchet of 19 mm and equal thickness would also weigh 3.1 grams (Density of copper and nickel are almost identical). That's why I search the specs on coins we made for other countries to see if there was a match. And as I said there was one. The Nepal 25 Pice is coppernickel, 19mm, and 3.1 grams. But it is not magnetic, and was only struck in San Francisco as a proof coin.

Not even close, lead weighs only a little more than half what gold weighs. Gold and tungsten are almost identical in weight but different in color. Lead and silver are much closer than lead and gold.

Yes, Nickel. Almost identical in weight and highly magnetic in it's pure form, but loses it's magnetic properties if it contains more than about 8% or other metal.

I guess some don't have an off switch, or care to read rules that are made for others. This whole exchange over the past several pages is totally uncalled for by someone who wants us all to know he is the only expert in coins that should be taken seriously.

What is uncalled for is to tell a woman she might have something rare and then have here shell out $450 to authenticate that coin.

 

I thought I should show the photo of the three pennies I put in the sun, on our deck, and take the photo of the difference between a 1971, 1972 (ours) and a 1973.

 

@girldly seems to be a troll. She paid $450 to PCGS and they have taken over a week and still not contacted her? PCGS should of contacted her days ago either with a grade or an update (If it was something special and needed investigation).

Yet nothing. She is instead posting more pictures of the coin 'in the sun'. Did you post this picture before? Why repost?
If you just took this picture ----how did you do that if the coin is at PCGS?

Next, I called PCGS, to ask about our penny. She told me since it was not returned immediately, then it is more thank likely not plated. They return those coins immediately. So, I suppose the testing goes on. They can't tell you any specific information with regard to our coin, they are not allowed. All she was allowed to say was that if it is still at PCGS, they are still grading it, and/or doing the metal test. She also said to watch my emails daily for information. We still don't know anything. Thanks to all the collectors who have taken an interest in the coin.

 

That is not very nice. I would never refer to anyone as a "troll." This was just a photo on the my computer I downloaded. I thought it might be helpful. As the pages increase, I just wanted people to see the coin. I am sorry if it bothers you sir. Please don't call me names. That is not nice at all.

I see I am not his first victim. Thank you for this thread. I read it all. I feel for people who look for answers, and get abused by this member. What a sad thing. He needs a new hobby.

 

How about chilling it with the ad-hominems and not jumping to conclusions about the OP? This sounds like their first time sending something into be graded, and PCGS isn't always as fast as one would like.

I have sent a few coins to PCGS and the Rarity scale and it has never taken anywhere near as long as you claim. Your entire story smells of BS. You called PCGS and they have had the coin for days and can't authenticate it?

I have sent coins at that fee scale before that even I was not sure was a rare variety and those are WAY harder to authenticate than if a coin is an off-metal error or not. When you say PCGS would not tell you details on the coin while they have it--FALSE. I have done it before. I had a half cent I wanted to know if was a certain variety and the customer service rep put me on hold and told me they were contacting an expert who was currently at the Long Beach show.

Anymore fabrications you want to make up?

I agree. I am finished with this person. We know it is 99 percent not a rare coin, but this person resorts to name calling...so, why would anyone want to go to a site and be abused. I got the point the first time he wrote how he felt. He just wont drop the issue. I will check back in a few weeks. He has made a bad impression on me, and apparently I am not his only victim.
