Batman's Silver Hoard

    I guess his heirs sold it off in the early 90's. I got two pieces today, they are pretty cool.

    That Batman obverse almost looks like silver plating has worn off to reveal a brass or bronze core. What does it look like in hand?

    This is a wild guess, but that color on the edge of the plastic looks like a reflection of his hand while taking the picture.

    Could be, or tarnish? The picture shows 1 troy oz .999 silver, so it shouldn't be a plating issue.

    it does look like that in hand, or its tarnish. could plating wear off a uncirculated coin in a capsule? These things have been selling on Ebay for $90.

    Since it's marked 1 oz .999 fine, it shouldn't be plated -- unless it's a fake. A fake that's somehow been removed from the capsule and handled enough to scrape off the plating, without causing obvious damage to other areas of the coin. That seems a bit farfetched. But I've never seen tarnish (or reflections) looking quite like that, and I have seen worn-through plating looking like that.

    I'll defer to the person who has the coin in-hand.
