Identify this coin please.

    My father-in-law gave me this coin back in the 1990's. It is the same size as a silver dollar. appears to be silver has the mintmark G and 999 on the back under the eagle. Can someone identify this coin for me. Thanks Jim

    It's called a silver round. Made by a private mint to be sold as bullion. Nice looking piece.

    All American coins have to have three elements: "E Pluribus Unum," :In God We Trust, and the bald eagle. This is not a coin but a medallion or "Round."

    The Lincoln cent, Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime and many others have no bald eagle...

    The third element should be "A denomination".
