While in Brunei on work at the embassy, the Ambassador handed us these as he was rushing out to lunch.
Nice! Girl I work with was coined by the ambassador to the United Kingdom, her coin was in an Ait-Tite.
Very cool challenge coins! I also collect (or should I say - accumulate) these, and gave about 10-15 or so in a box somewhere...
Here is my one an only challenge coin. I received it at my first duty station in Osan AB Korea. I was in AMMO in the Air Force from '96-'00. I carried it in my wallet the entire time plus another 5 years after. So it's gotten some wear on it. The IYAAYAS was a big part of us. If You Ain't Ammo You Ain't Sh** is what it stood for. I hope this does not get flagged for profanity as I'm not trying to use it in that manner.
I have a couple...the one with the skunk from when I was in tech school some 11 years ago. The one with the respirator from eBay and the one with the Open Tank sign from a friend and he got it from Luke AFB. Are you Fuels?
Glad to see this thread still has a little life in it. Sadly, no new challenge coins for me to post. Couldn't find one at Móron AB. When I get around to it...unless @Circus does it first...there was a neat eBook about various experiences with challenge coins that I feel is worth a read.
I'm going to a big coin show in North Jersey tomorrow, Jack, and I'll keep my eye out for any challenge coins. Paul Cunningham will be there (not many shows he doesn't go to, it seems) so he may have some. I'll let you know if I see anything nice. Are you still in Spain, Jack? Bruce
No, just got home actually. Great to be with my family again. You know, you should ask him if he has a military trade token from McChord AFB. I would pay strong money for one.
No, if he has any I'll just buy them. If you don't want them I'll keep them for my collection. No problem, Jack. Bruce
Cataloging my challenge coin collection now and I need a break. Here's a link @Circus originally posted with some challenge coin stories: http://www.schlockmercenary.com/blog/uahcc-release Here's the review written by Ray Bows for "A Guidebook of United States Tokes and Medals" which has some important information about challenge coins: http://www.coinbooks.org/club_nbs_esylum_v14n18.html#article4
I don't have any but would like to (Thank all of you for your Service!) Many Thanks to all Men and Women who served!!!! Brian
Picked this one up today while in line at the gas station. Air Mobility Command is an Air Force major command and are responsible for global mobility and aerial refueling. AMC moves cargo and passengers and it's aircraft include the C-17, C-5, C-130, KC-135, and KC-10. I've worked the 17, 130, and 135 but only the C-17 when I was part of AMC. From the Air Mobility Command factsheet, "Air Mobility Command activated on June 1, 1992, when the Military Airlift Command and Strategic Air Command were inactivated. Elements of those two organizations, MAC's worldwide airlift system and SAC's KC-10 and KC-135 tanker force, combined to form AMC. Three tanker bases also joined AMC. They were Grand Forks AFB, McConnell AFB and Fairchild AFB." http://www.amc.af.mil/library/factsheets/factsheet.asp?id=229 My goal is to get one from each Command I've belonged to so the set will include Air Combat Command, Air Force Special Operations Command, Air Mobility Command, Pacific Air Forces, and U.S. Air Forces in Europe. These are all readily available and minted by Northwest Territorial Mint.
