I order doubles as well. I can count by 2s as easy as 1s.

Some days, you think Kafka was right. It's all absurd.

Let's be gentlemen and attempt to break this down:

So to my understanding, you think you have:

    1) A doubled die 1958-D penny with doubling around the neck and around the D and date.

    2) a 1974 half that "bulges by the cloud layers". Are you referring to the dots that grow gradually bigger as they go to the center of the coin on the reverse, above the eagle.

    Pictures would help...

That's a good idea. At least for those of us who aren't clairvoyant.

While it is possible to find unlisted varieties, I highly recommend anyone who is looking for varieties to use the many online references, and the cherrypickers guide untill they have the numismatic knowledge to know the differences between die doubling, and machine doubling. I've only found five major doubled dies, and maybe twenty major varieties out of tens of thousands of coins looked at. They are out there, but not in every box I go through. Every doubled die has pick up points that are unique to the die, and all the info about them is on line. Before someone post about a possably rare coin, they should use the resources available to them to check die markers etc, then get our opinions about the coin. There are many on here that are glad to help those new to our hobby, but its hard to help people who make absolutely no sense in their post, so please be concise.

"appears to have a particle caught in between the cloud layers it bulges on both sides" - I think he means between the CLAD layers!

I don't know about you guys but I'm feeling like a particle caught in between the cloud layers bulging out on both sides.

Some are actually trying to help, but several are just piling on. Remember the rule, you can trash ( say bad about the coin), but not the person. It may seem very funny to several, but it is time to stop and either be helpful, considerate of people not having as much knowledge as yourselves, or not posting. Thank you, Jim

So funny... Everyone thinks I'm completely crazy too!! I get so excited just finding one on the ground. I've even stopped the car and got out to pick one up. My wife just laughed.

  17. ok guys heres some photos for amusement. Its a 1958 philli us wheat penny not Denver! Yea I'm shooting for the moon. I've also come across another 1969 s that I have a lot of confidence in,but thats another thread for the books! I really do appreciate all of you guys regardless of the feedback you give. Critisism can be a very strong motivational aspect!

I suppose they are still out there, but you have more of a chance to be struck by lightning than finding either a 1969-S DDO or 1958 DDO.

So far there are only 35 known 69-S DDO's and only 2 known 58 DDO's

So now that I see the picture and as I stated that I think you meant between the clad layers.. It looks like the Kennedy Half in question was heated. Someone put a blowtorch to it. This is what would cause the bulge to happen.
