As a new collector, I relish discovering wheaties in boxes of bank rolls. I have aproximately 300 including some early dates but many '50's.
75. Just not that much interest in wheats. While going through my late mom's things, found this small wooden box with 75 wheats from the 40's to 50's and 1 or 2 earlier.
From left to right, A screw that goes to who knows what. Back in the 50's when you renewed your license plates, you received new plates every year back then, you would also receive 2 miniature plastic license plates for your car key ring. A button with a star. Whatever this button went to, it was probably thrown away from being worn out and my mom kept it just in case someone else had the same jacket or shirt. The token is, I think, for a bell like the ones that was used at hotels, etc to get the person attention. A plastic key - who knows why it was in the box. Last was a pin, probably used to dig thorns and splinters from my brother's and my hide.
I'm not in the U.S., I don't have as many as most of you guys. I have 138 in my collection (will get that 14D and 31S one day) and I have 30 in my swaps.
Found a 1942 sitting on the ground at a gas station today. Unfortunately, couple vehicles ran it over before I picked it up. Oh well. Another one goes in the jar
Does it have an s mint mark. If so I'm going to go ahhhhhhh because that was the last normally easy to find date that I did not have.
