Yup, I got a sweet deal on this lil' prow-coin so it was an easy sell ...

Ummm, so while you're busily trying to look for coins with "A" on them for that other amazingly cool thread, try to snag any coins from Lycia, Phaselis while you're at it!!

    Lycia, Phaselis AE18
    2nd-1st century BC
    Diameter: 18.3 mm
    Weight: 4.3 grams
Obverse: Galley with Nike flying over
    Reverse: Athena holding thunderbolt

Lycia Phaselis Victory & Prow a.jpg Lycia Phaselis Victory & Prow b.jpg

=> oh, and post any of your prow coins too ... oh, and/or any coins of Nike and Athena that strike your fancy!! (or anything that you want to post)

    ;)

    Cheers

Nice buy! I have no coins of Lycia, much less a Phaselis.

And the only prow coin I have is this RR semis.

There is an interesting run of silver staters of Phaselis in the upcoming CNG 99 auction, Lots 275-289. All of them are apparently varieties not listed in Heipp-Tamer!

=> I'm pretty sure that is the sweet symbol of Lycia Phaselis (it is also on my other coin from Lycia Phaselis ... plus, I see it's also on Doug's example, above)
