Not pre-strike (The lines were not on the planchet), not post strike (The lines were not added after the coin was struck.) The lines were the result of damage to the die and were created on the coin at the moment of striking. The are more closely viewed as a die marker because they were in the die like a die scratch, chip, gouge, polish line etc would be.

That makes sense. The feeder fingers gouged the die. not the planchet.

Its still a pre-strike . Feeder lightly scrap the die, then the coin was struck ... Can't prove whether it was the first one, or the ?? one ...

 

The DIE was damaged pre-strike, but not the coin, and it was the coin that was asked about.

I think the easiest way to find this one. Is the dots between EPU. I have a lds that you cant see the seperation lines.

 

The " 4 " is just out of focus, thats all

 

The dotes are doubled, and you can see the separation lines too

 

I see
