i put all my bids in this morning. you need to start bidding strong right now. show them who's the boss.
My experience has been that I win significantly more by bidding at the end. When I bid early, I almost always lose. I have seen an underbidder cast several bids a few dollars apart until figuring out my high bid. It really stinks to lose and presumably by only a few dollars.
Whoever wins the coin, once you have it, call or email CAC and ask them what they will offer you for the coin. I'm betting THAT would be a sobering experience
Fantastic rainbows happen. AT techniques tend to leave telltale signs (color patterns/sequences, chemical residues, impaired patina, etc). You will notice this coin is toned on obverse only, and in a circular pattern, leaving an un-toned obverse center. Not an easy task for a coin doctor. You will also notice the coin retains a beautiful patina, which is often lost when a coin doctor applies (in some fashion) sulfur and a catalyst. I've seen a collection of incredible rainbows as beautiful and even more beautiful than this one. Part of private collection of John Albanese, co-founder of PCGS and NGC, and the founder of CAC. This one looks real to me.
Really, I just went to site and it sold for $1,550.00, $1,705.00 with premium. WOW, is it because of the unique feature of the coin ? Explain NT and GC please to the Newbe, thanks.
The toning is the ONLY reason it went so high, but i dont think anyone imagined that high. NT is natural toning. AT is artificial toning. GC means Great Collections auction website.
About 99% of my coins are raw I will not pay some inflated price for someone to but their suggested grade onit and then put in a holder. The best thing about the holder is the fact it keeps the coin from getting messed up.
The buyer is an idiot if he or she presumed that CAC's bid would be anywhere near that. My guess is that CAC might offer $100.
I think it is pretty much maxed out. And I say that as someone who made what I thought was a nuclear bid (i.e. stupid money) because I liked the coin.
Why would he take it CAC to sell it? He could take that coin to any show and have several dealers fighting over it. You seem very out of touch with the coin market.
Lol. Really, I think he's just poking a little fun at CAC's guarantee. It is a crock, let's face it. They'll buy them, but at their price. Hell, I'll buy them all day long at my price, too.
