Ah, mine is 32gb. But I dont need the big beast since I dont focus on u.s. coins. Regular red book works for me.

Yes, the 1916 SLQ is worth thousands even in low grades. Definite typo...

The pro version is the one I refer to most. The smaller spiral bound "United States Coins" 2015, is handy, and adds data not seen in the pro. Publishers use this as a gimmick to encourage users to buy both. Why not add more gimmicks and buy the "Blue Book" as well?? I say put all the data into one volume. The new Big Red Book looks tantalizing. I wonder if it gives metal percentages (for example a NiCu coin has what percentage copper and what percentage nickel)? It would also be nice if it were known how many dies were used in the minting process of such and such a coin. Like how many dies were used to make all of the 2010 D nickels in 2010?
Also information on the types and manufacturers of the minting presses themselves, what types are used and what tonnages were applied. The data is there!! But not put into nice book forms. When future books contain these types of data as well as metallurgical data, the we would have a very very useful resource. Add specific gravity readings for each coin type as well......
At my age, I may not live to see one. But -- PUBLISHERS TAKE NOTE -- I think a need does exist, and is growing.

That would make it the " Really Massive Deluxe Edition" that come with its own suitcase.

As a fresh collector, would this edition be good for me to get or should I stick with the basic red book?

I picked one up, and so far I find it a great book. Of course, I mainly collect large cents and about 1/8 of the book is a super expanded LC section. But, the commem section was greatly expanded, as well as the gold section and colonial coins to tokens, all greatly expanded with some excellent info. Really, for just a few extra dollars compared to the standard edition, you get a ton more. My only issue is finding a spot to put it.

I would get the last edition of the Red Book Professional edition. Much less expensive and easier to use. Once you decide what series you want to collect, you can than focus your research.

Thanks. That seems like solid advice.

I've been looking at these on eBay and there seems to be two different covers. Is there a difference in what cover you buy? One cover has a large cent on it and the other a $10 Indian gold piece.

Hmm...never seen that one. Maybe that was a presale picture...mine has the cent not the gold. Being that it has a special section on cents......

You could be right! I'll be picking up one of these next month. I spent too much at the coin show last weekend.
