I got 6 rolls of cents at the bank today and got 2 dimes, lol. Along with 1 wheat cent, 2 2009 bicentennial cents and about 30 pre-1982 copper cents.

I found a 1941S big S last night, going through a box of nickels. It was the rarest coin in the box.

About a month ago, my Dad bought all of the loose rolls of nickels in his bank and 4 of the rolls were clearly someone's collection. Half a roll of buffalos, a roll of 40's coins and the rest 50's through 64s. Lots of 64s, but they were all shiny with stairs and no scratches. I practically loaded my pants when Dad showed me the buffalos and 40's roll. Great day for the clan! Unfortunately, none of the coins were rare, but hey he got to upgrade like a dozen coins in his book. :)

Read a rew posts back abould halves. I bought a box of halves two weeks ago. My bank had to special order it. No silver. No coins newer than 2001. No unscratched coins.

I was pretty bummed out. But I filled a lot of slots in my book. It'll take a lot more hunting, I think, to get my halves collection up to snuff.

I do have 13 silver halves that I found last Feb at a bank. Bought all 17 bucks worth of their halves and discovered my treasures when I got home. :)

I ran across an article last night and read something i didn't know all Lincoln cents dated 1944 and 1945 were made from shell casing either new or used ones from ww2. Thats why some from those dates look a little off color because of how the metals were mixed

    Two boxes halves: 2-40%, 1-1987-D, 5-NIFC.

What years are the NIFC? If you have any in good condition that aren't 2003-P, 2003-D, 2006-D, 2007-D, and 2012-D I might consider buying them

Yesterday I got a full roll of bu 1966 Kennedy halves from a bank sealed roll. Must have sat unopened for 49 years...I have found many solid silver rolls, but never an unopened bank sealed roll. The edges of the halves feel sharp they are in such pristine condition.

Also one silver quarter. And two mercury dimes from a box of dimes. And two more silver dimes from a second box of dimes. A box of dimes today yielded zero silver until I brought it to the coin counting machine...and found three silver dimes sitting in the reject chute! Now that is good luck...

I have already found 397 silver coins weighing more than 80 ounces this year! Of course, it didn't hurt that I found 175 or so silver coins on one day...

Amazing you guys! I've been to probably a dozen branches of my bank in two states and only two of them had more than 5 half dollar coins and only the one of them had any silver halves.

Plus I've been through the equivalent of several boxes of dimes and only have six silver ones. Fortunately, they're all different.

There must have been some other hunters in my area who rrreally worked it dry before I got into roll searching. :-/

Jlogan, I didn't catalog them because I'm not saving them any longer. Have about 12-15 rolls put back. If you'd like me to save NIFCs for you, let me know what you are looking for and I'll be glad to work with you. Ron

    Everyone:

You should really buy a Red Book.

These and many other questions can be answered very easily in the latest edition of the "Guide Book to US Coins"
