So for a while now I've been contemplating buying one of those electronic microscopes. Tonight I found this little wonder at a place called Ollie's, Kind of like a Big Lots type store. Best part...$3.99

    Here's the device

Awesome. I have an Ollie's nearby me. I wonder if they have that.

Nice gagget, but take it from a Dino scope owner for 10 plus years they are worth every cent. As for Ollie their inventory changes from store to store.

paddy I can see where a Dino scope will still come in handy. This little guy tho I can take to shows and on the go.

Eventually I'll end up with one. I'd like one that will hook up to my Samsung tablet.

Already noticed one factoid; on the 1961, the 1's appear to be square across the bottom. On the 2011, definitely tubular...

We have an Ollie's somewhere here in Columbus. I think it works like this. Big Lots sells their unsold junque to Odd Lots. Odd Lots sells what's left over to Harbor Freight. Harbor Freight sells the remainders to Ollie's, the very bottom of the retail food chain...

LOL, yep, they had a 2014 for 3.99 but the best book was "The Top 25 Stock to Purchase in 2013"

Same here - I'd buy one, and look for a newer Redbook too.

Incidentally, if you're selling 3 or 4 coins on CraigsList, an old Redbook is a great item to throw in the deal, if they take everything.

I like the price point, 3.99 is affordable to just about everyone... :)

But I'm with Paddy on this one, I love my Dino-Lite

I use mine at shows, the coins are inside the showcase & the Tablet & Dino-Lite are on the outside.

The photos below demonstrate going from about 20x magnification to about 50x and the bottom photo is about 200x.

Looks like you have that hooked up to a Samsung. Was that easy, or complicated? That's what I want to do is connect it to my Samsung tablet.

@ROLLROOTER and @rzage I'm going to be out and about today. I can pick up a few more of these if interested. That goes for anyone else too.

But before I do and so you know full well what to expect. This little thing claps on over your phone's camera and magnifies what you hold up to it. On my phone I clamp it on then use the phone camera's zoom to zoom even further. There is a little led in it that provides light to what you are viewing. So it's basically a loup that attaches to your phone.

I'm afraid with the packaging it may cost more to ship than to buy. I'll have to look into that.

    Let me know.

Alan , does it plug into a regular laptop , or I-phone ?

    Laptop yes, I-phone no.

It has a full size USB jack, so your device needs to have a full size USB port. I-phone and I-pad do not have the port. The one phankins11 posted will work with I-phone & I-pad.

I got a neat little magnifier from Radio Shack for $13 and tax awhile back. Pretty much need the light on, and the view is 180 degrees so the coin has to be held upside down. No photos, it's super basic. It's pretty awesome though. A good travel buddy. WP_20150623_17_41_25_Pro.jpg
