I got one! Went to a local buy & sell gold store. He had a bunch actually. It's a 1934 and very nice condition. I'll try to throw a picture up when I can.

High denom notes seem overpriced to me based on rarity. I am in the market as it were, but there is no reason for VF notes with hundreds of known examples to go for hundreds to thousands over face.

Educationals, bisons, and chiefs are all over-priced when you only consider scarcity. But demand plays a really big role. They are popular notes. The large number of buyers drives the price up.

IMO, 3 factors determine the price: Scarcity, Condition, and Demand.

Yea I'm part of the chief cost, cause I want one of those. I'm afraid if I wait too long I'll be prices out of affordability.

Back in the 60's I had to pay an American dealer in London over $1000, so as part of it I went to a few banks in the Strand till I found one that would change my smaller dollar notes for a single $1000 bill. Well, it was a bit of a laugh at the time.

My grandma said that back in the 1950's my great-grandparents didn't trust banks, so they kept their entire savings in $100, $500, and $1000 bills stashed around the house. Unfortunately they went and deposited them all in a bank in the early 1990's.

In the early 90's you would've been hard pressed to find a dealer to buy a $1,000 bill for $1,025. I don't blame them, even if they knew that the notes were scarce.
