1943-S Steel Cent error? What's its value?

I had obtained this '43-S Steel Cent from a dealer a few months ago. I completely forgot about it until I looked through some drawers in my room and found it in its holder that I put it in. I already remembered why I bought when I found it. It's in nice condition, but the "4" in "1943" is barely visible. It's obviously not worn or anything, so it should be an error...right? What could be its value? (If any..) 2015-04-20 17.25.29.png 2015-04-20 17.26.35.png

Talk about coincidence... I just got rid of one not quite as removed as yours on Listia.

It's also not original but a replated cent by the looks of it

This was very common on 1943 cents, and as Blissskr noted, unfortunately your cent has been replated. Uncirculated steel cents do not have a shiny, "chrome" look about them. Any dealer worth his salt would have known this, so I would think long and hard about buying from this dealer again.

Well, I guess I paid the right amount for it then.

So very true but Littleton has been doing this since before the dawn of time and continue to do so. Just not right.

Yeah and I don't understand why they continue to do it or why anyone don't stop them, I see them often but yet, people buy them.

I never knew they would replate these. I just thought it was shiny because it never circulated. I'm gonna be careful the next time I buy one. I don't know why the person would do this, it was probably already fine the way it was before.
