Lombardo mint out of Canada has a number of different series of them in assorted metals. For an eyeful of what is out there google Lombardo mint images. They do have a wides assortment of them.

 

Your train tokens are extremely cool.

Ok guys here's a lot I got with my eBay bucks. What I'm also interested in is the message attached to the holder. I asked but the seller didn't know the history. There appear to be some errors with the label: Yohota likely was meant to be Yokota, different bases used tokens at different times into at least as late as 1988 or 1989, and Kanto Base Command looks like it didn't come into being until 1962 after Tachikawa AB lost it's flying mission, and these tokens are not MPC. The label is correct that eventually tokens were withdrawn and destroyed - sometimes by being tossed into a river like in Vietnam or buried in the desert like in New Mexico. I think the label also got the acronoym K.B.M.A.O.M correct. Anyway...I would get out the ole' Cunningham...but you know...

Well just finished reading it this morning.It was an interesting and enjoyable read. They weren't used much in the Navy back during Nam on board DD's or the shore stations I was at. It is in PDF format. I have it on the ipad and mac so it opens fine in Ibooks. It is collection of peoples stories about the coins and how they are used.
But as with things today there are fantasy challenge coins out there. along with places that sell other current style coins for all area's

@Circus, Ray Bows in reviewing the Red Book Series on U.S. Tokens and Medals remarked that challenge coins got their start in the Army during Vietnam...I can dig up the link if you would like to read it, just let me know.

I just received several new tokens from my "dealer" and I took some poor but view-able photos with my phone. I know photos out of the holder would be better, but I don't have any new holders right now so there it stays. The first one up is just a test, but it comes to us from Brookley Air Force Base, Alabama.



Some quick info: Brookley came to the Army in 1938 and lasted until the end of WWII. It seems it was closed briefly until the Air Force became it's own entity and was again in service from 1948 to it's closure in 1969.

 

Ok, so the above test went well. Anyway, time to bomb this thread with seven more trade tokens! Not going to do much here other than show 'em off.
