Only the famous symbol X P drew my attention on the reverse of this tiny coin weighing only 2.26 g. There is also the letter Epsilon instead of Alpha and Omega which usually accompany that sacred symbol. The poor condition of the coin makes it difficult to determine the identity of the Emperor on the obverse. Thanks for your views..
C7 very cool coin, i like the Chi-Rho on these coins. If i may ask where do you find all these coins, do you dig them or just buy them??
@ VK.. Yes I looked at sites. I have many coins with this symbol and I already posted some of them. But this one is the first one I recently acquired and the symbol occupies all the reverse. @ Eng.. I just buy most of my coins from a well-known shop, including the one above.
Great.. I would have never guessed it's a Byzantine coin. Historically, did the Byzantinians take this symbol after the Romans? Did it exist before and maybe had another significance? Is it recorded the date or the first time this symbol was used and by whom or for which purpose ?
(Edited because I misread your question) CoinTalk member Valentinian has some useful information about the chi rho symbol. See the link he provided in your thread from March 22, 2015, "3S Constantine".
