Well, THIS is interesting, from an email the Mint sent out this morning:

    TBD:

If you log in from several different browsers/sessions, do you get one place in line per Mint user ID, or per browser session?

Getting all your friends/employees to wait in line for you will still work, same as always.

Blah, blah, blah same old buffalo chips, dog do-do, and human excrement. Call, put on hold, pick a number. Duh, what's new with that! Instead of "Space" it should be "Mint, The Final Frontier."

Sounds like a lottery approach, better than the present system. Still the guy who logs in 5 hours in advance and gets the 12,999,000 spot in line won't be happy.

Wonder if they will have a Readers Digest or a National Geographic. Probably just have catalogs of last years leftovers.

It's a good bet that letters or emails that start with: "we are exicited" are not going to excite anyone. At least not in a good way.

I predict that the "wait room" crashes.

with their current overpricing I don't think they are going to experience the long waiting line they expect.

It’s a good idea but I am not a fan of getting in the wait room and possibly being the last person in line when you were there before someone who clocked in at 11:59 and having them possibly get the number one spot.

It doesn't say, but you would think the "waiting room" would be isolated down to those who want to buy that day's release (you want to buy the "x" we are releasing today, click here to join the waiting room), but going by their wording, anyone who's on the site will be moved to the waiting room at a few minutes before the release time. That's a bit of an unwieldy way to go at it.

Marketing great idea!! (NOT) they look through the waiting list and see who has purchased the most and move them accordingly. up or down until things get back to NORMAL. I don't trust them one bit. That think tank idea isn't worth the paper it is wrote on.

I don't think they'll actually do that, but I can't see how they'll convince people that they aren't doing that.

I think that the "Waiting Room" will only help a few people that are computer literate and know how to "beat the system." Most of the things that I buy are in my Subscription File". I'm not sure how that will work with the "Waiting Room."

When you are completely incompetent at your job you devise ways to get others to do it for you. You do this by developing new procedures and make others responsible for implementing them. You get credit for a great idea and everyone else gets blamed if it doesn't work.

Did you work for Ford at one time? When the assembly line was developed he realized how it ran. He put the laziest person in the hardest position. Why? Because they found the easiest way to do the job.

I put the same thought another way when I was working and had to explain the corporate bureaucracy to bright-eyed and eager new young things: "When someone doesn't know what to do but feels that they must do something, they either write a memo or create a form. This has the appearance of action without any of the risk or effort of taking real action."
