Yes very nice they are a form or sub collecting area called challenge coins, which are properly commissioning of the ship coin, or ships coins. Don't thing they had any back in the day when I was in the navy.

Your collection of medals are cool, especially the peace around the world side. That is how I see it and wish for it as well.
It also came in a bronze version, somebody on CCF had one other than it is by the Lombardo mint, there is no info on it either on their site or the web. even google images comes up blank lots of images but none of the medal. He also looked for a while and couldn't find anything. A call to lombardo mint might be in order on Monday. If I find anything more I will post the info.
That's one of the best ways to clean a coin, I'll have to remember that. By the way did he use a straight tip or a Phillips head?
