Next is 1971-2015 rainbow proof Jeffersons, which is rough. Esp 2000 and later, which is practically impossible.
I do have a good start to that "second half" Jefferson Set with this crazy intense 1992-S Jefferson Proof which PCGS graded as problem free PR67CAM first time through. I bought this coin (raw) on eBay in Feb 2013 for $21. I thought that the color might be too intense for PCGS to grade as problem-free but I just loved the way it looked, and I thought $21 was a fairly cheap gamble. If someone did take the time and effort to cook it so exquisitely, they certainly didn't make any real money on it. I did submit it to PCGS using their Secure Plus service so it could be sniffed for illegal chemicals (it passed that test). I believe that pattern of parallel lines on both sides helped this grade since that pattern is practically impossible to cook. It's probably the most color I've ever seen on a PCGS graded Jefferson proof.
My ancient coin buying has been pretty sparse lately. But I did manage to score this, according to an ancient coin reference site, "very rare' Mamaea Roman Provincial cheap. I havent found any other examples other then the reference site. Julia Mamaea (222 - 235 A.D.) Æ20 Thrace, Deultum O: IVLIA MAMAEA AVG, diademed and draped bust right. R: CFPD, forepart of bull left. 20mm 3.5g Varbanov (E) 2380; Jurakova 202var.
Well, 'jello' I was at least able to go to the PCGS and find out the value of the coin as it stands right now. I have also e-mailed them to see if they can assist in finding a way to get grading dates. Lets see what happens. thanks for your info.
Here's a Connecticut copper I just picked up. I started another thread asking for attribution help, the closest I could find online with pictures was 37.8 HH but I'm not sure that is the exact one. Any help would be appreciated!
I picked this up to give to my wife's cousin's son. He is 16, born in 1998. I thought this may be a way to get him interested in coin collecting. I will give him last years RedBook, also.
@dwhiz , I like the revese proof in the black holders the best. ASE's do look very nice in the black retros!
