Well I guess technically you can't be 100% sure but usually if they come in from the bank with both end coins being the same and form a box containing the same you are pretty sure. I have never found one that was mixed when I opened them.
So I have a dumb question. How do you get rol ls of pennies from the mint? I went to my bank and asked them if they get rolls of coins from the mint and they said no. I went online to the mint website--and they don't even list pennies--at least I didn't see them listed.
I just ask my bank for a uncirculated box if they have any. But most the time I ask for circulated right now I have 4 boxes of 2015 cents 2 Philly mints and 2 Denver. One time I asked for uncirculated and they said all we have are 2009's mind you this was last year so I asked how many and they said 9 boxes so I snatched them all up because at the time they were selling for $60 a box on eBay.
I believe the company LOOMIS which is the company that delivers coins to the bank stopped at the mint while taking them to various states
No no no! The coins are shipped to the fed and then shipped out to the suppliers (Loomis, Brinks, etc) and then shipped out to the banks from there. Sometimes when the new coins are coming out at the first of the year They will send those straight to the wrapping facilities. The mint doesn't ship wrapped coins.
I live an hour from Denver, so I've been getting lots of 2015 cents and quarters, but so far no Nickels or Dimes. I'm buried in 2015 cents here, forget hunting pennies till they clear out in a few weeks! Seems like Loomis gets large shipments of the new coins from time to time then back to the older coins. Going to pick the best out of the box of 2015-d cents, and try to get a ms-67 if there is one in there. Most are 65's or 66's, overall really good quality. Might as well make it worth my time, and take advantage of the glut in new coins.
I got a penny box half of it was 2015 D as I said in this post. I got those rolls, found a 2015 Philadelphia cent in pocket change, and a new homestead quarter at the bank
I still haven't found a 2015 Philly yet in change. Just hoping that one will show up with some skiers from back east before the season is over! Last year, I didn't see any philly coins for 2014 until nearly September.
As for solid roll UNCs, I've been getting nearly solid rolls. They will have 45 to 48 of the new 2015-d cents, and the balance being older coins.
My employers HQ is a stones throw from the mint, may have to find an excuse to go down there to take a tour and report back to you guys about it. Would love to see how our coins get their start.
