What you show in the one set of photos are die "chips" not cuds. Cuds are connected to the rim.

Are these rare? Collectible? Or do they harm the grade?

Seriously? And you know the number of these that were plated by multiple different 3rd party companies to be sold on home shopping networks, etc how? These were sold to people that didn't know better at massive markups and there is tons of them out there. The mint certainly didn't plate these and I think it would be next to impossible to find out exactly how many were plated or even by who; but they did in extremely high numbers.

  5. I think you did great! Awesome set of coins.

Ethan, your passion for numismatics is profusely evident and I wish you the best when it comes to selling these coins. You did get a good deal and will be able to make some money off of this lot of quarters. However, it will take a lot of work and time as others have pointed out. But if you are an aspiring coin dealer or are looking to make a bit of extra $$ off coins on the side you have to start somewhere. This is a good starting point. It is a safe purchase with very little potential down side. I remember some of my early purchases in numismatics were similar.

I'm not sure if there is enough gold in the platting, but it might make 26c each.

Oh I am not selling them, I wanted some state quarter sets and now I have some very nice ones...I was just curious about the value and I think they are worth more than I paid. Either way, they will probably end of being my grand kids which have not been born yet.

    Thanks ......

After the coin show I know I did well. They had some for sale that were just NOT even close. I could have put that lot up and made $25 easy....but I will keep them.

You can find a back date silver eagle from a reputable dealer for around $20, maybe a bit more as silver spot started to rise again today. They are beautiful coins.

They are called Silver Eagles worth about 1 Oz of Silver maybe $17 with a little premium. A colorized one can even get more to the right buyer. I have a couple I paid spot for.
