Wow, guys, really need to tone this down and move on. It really serves no useful purpose, especially considering the fact we have junior members here. This is not what we are here for.
What happened? I fell asleep, woke up and missed something It's just a 1943 Steelie, steel Cent coated with zinc, Struck through Grease.. what was so hard about that?
not sure if you remember my old avatar but. someone found it offensive things escalated from there lol
Oh ok.. You guys should use GIF avatars like mine! See the coin flipping? Will snippy up the look a bit.. no nasty stuff though! haha
I missed a little bit I guess but I think I know what happened. I'm happy with my avatar (which will not offend anyone but collectors who think mercs are stupid). Even though I have new editing technology now and can make my avatar look better I still use my old hand edited photo that took hours to make.
It just takes to much time to write out Winged Liberty Head Dime, merc just feels shorter lol (yes, I'm pretty lazy).
Couldn't agree more, @tommyc03. I joined this forum to learn more about numismatics and to share my knowledge with others, and simply to talk coins with fellow collectors. I'm glad to see that the moderators see fit to clean house, when some members decide to use it to display offensive images or for personal barbs against others. In my opinion, as a member, there is simply no room for that behaviour here.
hey edited, how is crying about avatars "to learn more about numismatics and to share my knowledge with others, and simply to talk coins with fellow collectors."
NO haha.. The Mercury dime is a ten-cent coin struck by the United States Mint from 1916 to 1945. Designed by Adolph Weinman and also referred to as the Winged Liberty Head dime, it gained its common name as the obverse depiction of a young Liberty, identifiable by her winged Phrygian cap, was confused with the Roman god Mercury.
Yes, Mercury has the wings on her feet. I guess that America tried to be original and put the wings on her head.
AKA Hermes the messenger God.. Looks like he had them on his feet and head. All the depictions I am looking at shows this.
