Oh and while your there at the bank ask for the Susan b Anthony coin hand them a dollar and they'll give you one
Yeah, yeah, unfortunately the average coin collector has the attention span about as long as the release date for the next mint product. We forget how exciting the state quarter program was at its inception. Fortunately, once a series or mint issue has time to “mature” a more faithful following develops. As for the business strikes, yep, too many were made and saved. However, recently we’ve seen several casual collectors come in to complete and upgrade there sets with uncs at $1 or $2 a piece. These collectors have commented on how “crappy” these quarters look after circulating for awhile and they want frosty uncs. So yeah, some of those casual collectors have acquired the collecting bug. As for the errors and special mint issues, many exciting, low mintage, inexpensive issues with potential to appreciate, so better ad them to your collection now, as they probably won’t be more affordable down the road.
Just so I could say I did so, I looked up both "Road Island" and "Rhode Island" gold coins and couldn't locate anything rare or valuable, so please, upload away. This begs the question.... and exactly what are you known for in the "coin buiz"?
Well I looked and sure enough eBay has them for $4, as does Littleton.. Guys, lay off of him.......I think that he really likes coins. Help him learn not ridicule... Matty, these plated coins are worth what a collector would want to pay, worth is relative as a coin collector considers them damaged. However, as an educational tool and for kids, these are awesome. I bought mine and I really like them. I paid about $0.32 a piece for mine but I got lucky. I went to the coin show hoping I could get these in National Park series to add to my state ones and they were not available. That being said, the HSN and snake oil salesman selling them online for $60 a set are just crooks in my opinion.
But you know they do NOT know, explain why they are worth what you feel they are. In the gun world I see this and it reminds me of gunsnobbery. I can remember when I pulled my High Point 995 Rifle out at the range and the ol Marine was telling me how it was junk and a waste of money. So I handed it to him and said 'shoot it'. He put all 10 rounds in a silver dollar at 25 yards with iron sites. Of course they were about 4 inches high and right. His reply was my gun needs the sights adjusted but I know he was impressed with my cheap rifle......I still have it and love it!
