Agreed, JA. I'm feeling Doug's hot breath on my shoulder right now.I know what it is, but my lips are sealed. Bruce
OF COURSE this HAS to happen to a coin that is very special to you... Sorry to hear about this Anoob...
Did the last tracking info show ISC Chicago on the USPS website? If so, it is hard telling where it may be. I had one from England that showed ISC Chicago. It ended up in my PO box with no further scans.
Thats correct. It appears at ISC Chicago on 1/25/15 and has not moved and USPS can not give me any info. Its is registered and should be scanned at every leg of the journey correct?
In theory, yes. Sometimes packages sit in Customs for indefinite periods of time though, with no scanning activity. You may be able to call the Chicago sort center or customs... worth a try.
Initiate a trace if one hasn't been started already. If there is any hope of finding it this will do the trick. This method has worked for me a couple of times before, weeks after a package went "dark" on tracking.
BTW, international registered mail is treated as First Class mail once it reaches the USPS mail system. In other words, scanning is haphazard and not required.
UPDATE: ....After nearly 4 months off the radar, a refund from the seller, a return of signed documents from an international inquiry a few weeks ago......the package has began moving again! It appears now to be in my state and should arrive today to tomorrow. I have sent the seller (who is awesome) a note stating that I will pay for the coin again if and when it arrives undamaged. I need not reiterate the extreme rarity and awesomeness of this specimen.
Lets not count our chickens before they hatch. I wonder what condition it will in if and when it is delivered. It did not stow today, so I suspect tomorrow.
